The Surigao City Police Station (SCPS) will receive an award as the best police station in the whole of Caraga for 2007.
PNP City Director PSupt Francisco Dungo will have the honor to receive the award for their outstanding performance last year from Police Deputy Director Gen. Emmanuel R. Carta, Chief Directorial Staff of Camp Crame on February 1 at the Police Regional Office 13, Camp Rafael C. Rodriquez, Libertad, Butuan City in line with the 17th anniversary of the Philippine National Police.
Following the SCPS are Butuan City Police Station as the Best Provincial/City Police Office of the Year Award, Tubod Municipal Police Station of Tubod, Surigao del Norte as the Best Municipal Police Station of the Year, 1406th Provincial Police Mobile Group of Surigao del Sur as the Best Provincial Mobile Group of the Year, and Regional Finance Service Office 13 as the Best Regional Administrative Support Unit of the Year.
PNP-13 Regional Director Chief Supt Jaime Milla will also announce and acknowledge the individual awardees namely, Police Senior Supt. Benson D. Leleng, as the Señor Police Commissioned Officer of the Year, Police Insp. Jeffrey S. Tamayo, as Junior Police Commissioned Officer of the Year, SPO4 Ellaquim F. Villahermosa as Police Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year, PO3 Jay Virgil O. Calo, as Junior Police Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year, and a Special Award will be given to SPO1 Anna Liza Balla Cotiangco.
The PNP celebration is annually observed since its activation on January 29, 1991 upon the dissolution of the Philippine Constabulary and Integrated National Police after then Pres. Corazon Aquino signed into law Republic Act 6975 creating a police force that is national in scope and civilian in character.
This year’s theme for the celebration is “Mamang Pulis, Tagapagtaguyod ng Karapatang Pantao tungo sa Kapanatagan ng Mamayan.” (PIA-Surigao del Norte)
