The provincial government here, under the leadership of Governor Robert Ace Barbers vowed strong support to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo during her visit Friday, March 28, to deliver social services to the poorest of the poor in Malimono town.
Governor Barbers proudly presented to the Chief Executive the two manifests of support signed by the mayors and SP members in the province.
"Madam President, at this juncture, I have with me a manifest of support that I will turn-over to you later, signed by majority of our mayors in the province of Surigao del Norte and another manifest of support signed by majority of our Board Members in the province of Surigao del Norte," Barbers said.
The resolution dated March 24, thanked the Chief Executive "that the province has been a recipient of various infrastructure projects of the present administration… and by being very supportive to the vital programs of LGU-Surigao del Norte."
"Amidst these present political crises in our country we strongly believe in the leadership and capacity of Her Excellency, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to lead the nation to economic prosperity," stressed the Provincial Board's Resolution of Support approved by Gov. Robert Ace Barbers.
Meanwhile, Barbers hailed President Arroyo to be the first President who has ever visited the remote Malimono town to personally hear and see the needs of the residents.
"Let it be written in the history of this town that once upon a time, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo came here and visited this municipality," Barbers said.
Lastly, Barbers also thanked the President for all the graces that the province has so far received from the Arroyo administration.
"Madam President, thank you very much for all these graces, and all these things that you have delivered to the people of Surigao. Once again, you have proven that indeed there is true to the proverb or adage that goes 'bringing the government closer to the people,'" Barbers said. (PIA-Surigao del Norte)
