The provincial government held recently this year’s month-long 2nd Governor Jads’s Cup Inter-Municipality Basketball Tournament.
During the opening program, Gov. Jade B. Ecleo, the brainchild of the Sports Development Program, said the tournament which had its baptism of fire last year is designed primarily to foster teamwork and sportsmanship between and among the seven municipalities of the province of Dinagat Islands. She added that the tournament recognizes the talents and capacities of the youth as effective players in shaping a better and healthy Dinagat Islands.
Some of the highlights of the program were the hoisting of the banners and the lighting of the Urn of Friendship.
Special prizes were given out to the Best in Team Uniform and Best in Team Muse, in which the adjudged winners were the Municipalities of San Jose and Basilisa respectively.
The ceremonial tossing of the first ball by Gov. Jade marked the start of the tournament. The elimination games took off in San Jose Cultural Center and the single round robins were conducted in Cagdianao, Loreto and Tubajon Gymnasiums.
