Tropical depression "Bising" continues to threaten the Eastern Visayas region as it moves closer to Dinagat Island, state weather forecasters said shortly before Friday noon.
In its 11 a.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the center of "Bising," which is moving west northwest at 7 kilometers per hour, was traced 30 kilometers northeast of Surigao City as of 10 a.m.
The weather disturbance is packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center, it added.
Still placed under public storm warning signal No. 1 are Eastern Samar, Western Samar, Biliran Island, Leyte provinces, Northern Cebu, and Bohol in Visayas; and Dinagat Province, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte in Mindanao.
The state weather forecasters advised residents living in low lying and near mountainous slopes in areas under Signal No. 1 to be on alert against possible flashfloods and landslides.
"Bising" is expected to be 70 kilometers east northeast of Cebu City on Saturday morning; 40 kilometers east of Roxas City on Sunday morning; and 80 kilometers east of San Jose in in Occidental Mindoro on Monday morning. - Johanna Camille Sisante, GMANews.TV
