The Cebu Blue Marlins Swimming Club made the biggest splash on opening day, winning 25 gold medals in the 1st Osky Mabilog Memorial Cup National Age Group Swimming Competition yesterday at the Cebu City Aquatic Center.
The two-day swimming event is participated by 153 swimmers coming from the different notable clubs around the country such as the University of San Jose, Aqua Sports Swim Club of Iloilo City, Iloilo Sea Warriors Swim Club, Negros Panaad Sea Eagles Swim Club, Palawan Swim Club, Negros Oriental Golf and Country Club Swim Club, Binirayan Todpoles Swim Club of Capiz, ,Negros Blue Dolphin Swim Club, Dipolog Blue Marllines Swim Club, Iligan Swim Club, Tangub City Swim Club, Surigao City Swim Team, Cagayan de Oro (CDO) Swim Club, Iligan Spring Eels swim club, Blue Shorts, Northshore Waves Swimming club, Dajangas swimming club and the Zamboanga City Team.
Anthony Linn Navarro contributed multiple gold medals in the first day of action after dominating the boys 9-10 200 meter Individual medley, Boys 9-10 100 meter breaststroke, 50 meter breaststroke and in the mixed 8 and under 200 meter medley relay together with Tara Kyla Ebon, Karen Mae Indaya and Renan Gabriel Tapang.
Aside from the 25 gold medals, CBMSC also gathered 17 silvers and 4 bronze medals.
Action resumes today at the same venue.
This will be the first major swimming event hosted by the Cebu City Local Government Unit in cooperation with the Cebu City Sports Center in line with the Cebu City Charter Day Celebration.
It is organized by the CBMSC in honor of the late Oscar Mabilog, one of the founders of Cebu Blue Marlin Swimming Club.
