One person was reported missing while four others injured when the pump boat they were riding collided head on along the seawater off Cabilan, Dinagat Islands province, a sketchy report reaching the regional command and tactical operation center of Northeastern Mindanao Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) here on Friday stated.
The incident happened at 8 pm Thursday.
Upon receipt of the said report, Chief Supt. Jaime E. Milla, PRO 13 regional director and concurrent chairperson of Regional Disaster Coordinating Council (RDCC), ordered the Dinagat Islands Provincial Police Office for a wide search and rescue operation along the seawaters of Dinagat Islands province, particularly off Cabilan.
The missing person was identified as Segundo P. Yortas, 48 of Mauswagon of that same province.
The injured persons were Leo C. Segubia, 44; Erwin E. Masaya, 48, both of Mauswagon; and Arnie Sayson, 44 and his wife, from White Beach of the same island province.
The injured persons were to Dinagat Islands District Hospital.
They were rescued by fishermen in the area.
Initial report to Milla stated that Sayson and his wife were on their way to San Jose’s Dinagat town proper when their pumpboat collided head on with another pumpboat between seawaters off Cabilan and San Jose.
The two pumpboats capsized after the collision, field report stated.
PNP elements of Dinagat Municipal Police Station is still conducting search and rescue operation of said missing Yortas.
The Dinagat police commander was also directed to mobilize the fishermen organization in the area for a joint search and rescue operation for Yortas. (PNA)
