Burglars broke into the office of Surigao del Norte Governor Robert Ace Barbers in the provincial capitol last Monday, but police said the robbers failed to get anything.
A report from the Caraga police revealed that the Surigao del Norte Police learned of the incident at 8:45 a.m. last Monday, when employees noticed that a window and a padlock of some of the offices were destroyed.
The investigation revealed that the robbers gained entry inside the provincial capitol through the backdoor and immediately broke into the governor’s office through the window.
“Culprits simultaneously robbed the Provincial Legal Office by gaining entrance at the back portion and by destroying the window which is made of decorative shells, and the table drawers were forcibly opened,” the Caraga report read.
“The Provincial Health Office, which is situated in a separate building, was also entered by the unidentified suspects by forcibly destroying its padlock,” the report added.
The result of the investigation revealed that there were no missing items in the three offices. The vicinity of the provincial capitol and the main building are being secured by the Civil Security Unit.
“SOCO Team of Surigao del Norte PNP conducted proper documentation by lifting latent prints at the said offices. Continuous investigation and intelligence monitoring is being undertaken by Surigao City Police to identify the culprits for possible filing of appropriate charges in court,” the report stated.
