Dumptrucks eyed for Mindanao towns

The Department of Agrarian Reform thru the Mindanao Sustainable Settlement Area Development (MINSSAD) has turned-over 38 units of dump trucks to 15 municipalities of Regions 10, 11 and the Caraga Region.

Regional Director Datu Yusoph Mama said that the 38 units of dump trucks costing P60 million were turned over to the Local Government Units (LGUs) by agrarian reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman in a simple ceremony held at the DAR Central Office Compound, Km.12 Catalunan Pequeño, Davao City.

He said that 7 of the said units were turned over to the municipalities of Kalilangan and Pangantukan in Bukidnon settlement area.

On the other hand, LGUs composed of Sto. Tomas, Dujali and Laak in Davao del Norte settlement area and LGU of Cateel in Cateel settlement area received 9 units as their maintenance equipment.

He said that the LGUs of Prosperidad, San Francisco, Talacogon, San Luis, Bunawan and Veruela under the Agusan del Sur settlement area were also recipients of 17 units of dumptrucks.

Also included as recipients were the LGUs of Tubajon, Dinagat and San Jose in Dinagat Islands Settlement area which receive 5 units as their own share, said Mama.

Mama said that this is the biggest subcomponent package that were turned over by the MINSSAD in various settlements areas in Mindanao.

He said that this is in line with the equipment support component extended to the LGUs for them to be provided with the equipment to strengthen their operational capability in the operation and maintenance of completed rural infrastructure projects."

According to Mama MINSSAD is a six-year term development project focused in Mindanao conceptualized to address the needs of the beneficiaries in the settlement areas and funded by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC)

The project served as an access to agricultural development programs, rural infrastructure and basic social services, he said. (DAR/PIA)
