A policeman reportedly assigned in Batangas was arrested after explosives were found inside a truck he was onboard in Surigao City last Friday.
Arrested was Police Officer 3 Moises Cuenca who along with truck driver, Edgar Navarro, and helper Hilario Gualter were allegedly found to be illegally carrying explosives in the ten-wheeler they were on board. The truck was reportedly bound for Liloan Port in Leyte from Lipata Port terminal in Surigao City.
Authorities said the three attempted to deceive authorities saying that the truck's cargo was garbage. Explosives were found however by the Philippine Coast Guard upon inspection.
Authorities said they discovered 32 sacks of highly explosive ammonium nitrate, 828 dynamite sticks and 300 connectors or non-electric blasting caps.
Police said the three failed to present permit to transport and clearance from the Firearms and Explosives division of the Philippine National Police.
