A state-of-the art and modern P320 million Surigao del Norte Sport Complex is set to be inaugurated on Aug. 31.
The 3,000-capacity Surigao del Norte Sports Complex is complete with amenities for national sports competition.
It has also a modern gymnasium and other local and national offices.
“This sports complex will highlight in the global competition and also adds to our tourism and income generation,” said Surigao del Norte Gov. Robert Ace Barbers.
He said that several high ranking officials from the national and regional level is expected to attend the inaugural rites.
“We can host now big sports events,” added Gov. Barbers.
Meanwhile, Northeastern Mindanao Public Works and Highways Regional Director Dr. Evelyn T. Barroso reported on Saturday that the ground works of the P138 million infrastructure projects currently supervised by the Surigao del Norte 2nd District Engineering office went into high gear and expected to hit the timeline before the end of the year.
The region’s public works official also reported that a P1.8 billion 60 kilometers circumferential road in Siargao Island is also recommended to beef up the economic activity particularly in tourism industry.
Initially, the concreting of the P80 million Dapa-Del Carmen Road (Sayak-Airport Road) is also set to complete on May 21, 2010. The project which was started on April 27, 2009 is under contract of ADFIL Corporation.
“All our infrastructure projects in Surigao del Norte province, especially those pump-priming projects and Presidential directives are ahead of schedule in its target time line,” added Director Barroso. (PNA)
