Task force probes Surigao vice-mayor's murder

The Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office over the weekend formed a task force to investigate the murder of San Francisco Vice-Mayor Nasario Gastardo last Friday.

Chief Superintendent Lino Calingasan, Caraga Police Regional Director, said Task Force Gastardo will be led by Senior Superintendent David Ombao.

Gastardo, 51, was shot in the head by two unidentified suspects in in Kaskag, Barangay Bagong Silang 2 around 6:30 p.m. The victim was immediately brought to Miranda Family Hospital, Surigao City where he was declared dead on arrival.

Scene of the Crime Operatives later recovered one empty cartridge of caliber 45 pistol at the site.

Calingasan is asking the help of the community who may have information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects. With a report from Trini Velasco, ABS-CBN
