The Nacionalista Party who fielded a complete slate for Surigao del Norte’s elective posts from municipal councilors to mayors of the province’s 20 towns and one component city filed their respective COCs on Saturday, records obtained from the Surigao del Norte Provincial Comelec office showed.
Award winning in terms of public service, Surigao City Mayor Alfonso Casurra in his last term as mayor filed his COC under the Nacionalista Party for the first congressional district at around 9:30 a.m.
Casurra’s opponent for the first district incumbent and re-electionist Rep. Guillermo Romarate Jr. of Lakas-Kampi-CMD has teamed up with second District Surigao del Norte Rep. Francisco Matugas another Lakas stalwart who is running for governor of Surigao del Norte this time.
Matugas’ wife, former DepEd regional director for Caraga, Sol Matugas is running for Congress in the second district (Siargao Island).
The administration party also fielded complete lineup mostly composed of incumbents.
