Cebu Ferries has expanded its services with the recent call in Surigao City which was as welcomed by the “Surigaonons” headed by Mayor Pons Casurra.
The formal launching of Cebu Ferries was held at Tavern Hotel in Surigao City, attended by Cebu Ferries assistant vice president for operations James Ray Lavides and Surigao City officials led by Mayor Casurra.
According to Lavides, the mayor was impressed by the service of Cebu Ferries and the vessel accommodations.
Mayor Casurra was one of the passengers together with two officials during the recent Cebu Ferry 2 maiden voyage to Surigao.
The event was also graced by Vice Governor Noel Catre who assured the management of Cebu Ferries and the travellers of the peace and order situation of Surigao provinces.
Cebu Ferry 2 serves Surigao City three times a week – Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from Surigao to Cebu at 11:00 p.m. Travel time is only seven hours direct to Surigao and vice versa.
It has also regular thrice weekly service between Cebu to Butuan and five times weekly from Cebu to Ormoc.
Cebu Ferry 2 has a passenger capacity of 892 and cargo capacity of 40 TEUs. It runs a maximum speed of 16.5 knots.
Cebu Ferries continues to look for ways that will service the majority of the riding public of Visayas and Mindanao areas. (EHL, MB)
