A miner was killed when a landslide occurred in a chromites area at Sitio Campayas in Barangay Navarro, Tubajon town, Dinagat Islands Province, a report reaching the Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) on Sunday stated.
The report also said that another miner was recovered from the rubble of rocks by the rescue team of that province.
Initial report from the police provincial office of Dinagat Islands stated that the victims were digging for chromites at the said area when the soil eroded and buried them over the weekend.
But the field report did not indicate if how persons were buried during the incident.
Rescue operation is still going on.
Initially, the rescue team found Rosalino Arnosa, 26, from the rubble of rocks and soil and immediately brought him to the Loreto District Hospital of that same province. However, the victim was pronounced dead on arrival.
On Saturday, another victim, identified as Michael Rivalde, 19, was found by the rescue team and also immediately brought him to that same hospital. He was currently recuperating from wounds he sustained during the incident, the field report said.
Arnosa and Rivalde were both residents of Barangay San Vicente, Magsaysay, Misamis Oriental.
