Mayor Pons Casurra, together with SP Committee Chairperson on Education Hon. Peñaflor Laxa, City Schools Division Supt. Ms. Teofila Cabatuan, and Assistant City Schools District Supervisor Evelyn Fetalvero, led the formal blessing and turnover ceremony of the 5 unit-classrooms at Sabang Elementary School on December 16, 2009. Mayor Pons in his message thanked the Almighty Father for providing for the people of Sabang especially the children, as it is a growing community, these classrooms for their continued growth and development. He also stressed to the teachers, parents, more so to the pupils to help in the maintenance of said classrooms for they themselves are the primary beneficiaries.
Furthermore, Mayor Pons distributed insurance cards to the Tanods and members of the Lupong Tagapamaya of said barangay.
In the presence of a number of DepEd officials to include education supervisors, school administrators, District In-charge Mrs. Maridel Edera, Sabang ES Principal Mrs. Pompia Baliña and teaching staff, PTA officials and community people, the handover ceremony was a success with Rev.
