Fatality in plane crash had just finished law -- kin

A female Air Force personnel from Cebu was among the casualties in the Cotabato city plane crash, according to the military in Cebu City.

Maj. Wilson Feria, spokesman of the AFP Central Command (Centcom), identified the Cebuana fatality as Ian Christy Marose "Jingle" Llamera.

Llamera was with the group because she served as the secretary of Major General Mario "Butch" Lacson, commander of the PAF's 3rd Air Division in Zamboanga City.

Before his assignment in Zamboanga City, Lacson was the commander of the 560th Airbase Wing of the 2nd Air Division at the Mactan Benito Ebuen Air Base, in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

Llamera's mothers and other relatives in Banilad, Cebu City, were overcome by grief when they heard the news.

Llamera's mother, Vicky, who was crying when she talked over the mobile phone Thursday afternoon, said they were still waiting for the official word of the military because they got the news from the colleagues of her daughter in Zamboanga City.

Vicky was still hoping her daughter survived the crash.

The Llamera family hailed from the Province of Dinagat Islands, but they have lived in Cebu for a long time, according to Llamera’s youngest brother Don.

Llamera, third of four siblings, graduated from high school at the Libjo National High School on Dinagat Island and took up psychology at the University of San Carlos.

Don said his sister had just finished studying law in 2009 at the University of Southern Philippines (USP). Her mother said she took the bar in 2009 and was just waiting for the results.

Vicky revealed that her daughter joined the military despite her objections, and took up law in deference to the wishes of her father.

Llamera had been in the Air Force for six to seven years , Don said.

Meanwhile, Feria said they were still waiting for news about the recovery of the body of Llamera from the crash site.

She said the recovered bodies would be brought to Manila first. With a report from Chito Aragon, Inquirer Visayas
