Arroyo to visit Mindanao

After her two-weeklong cyber-corridor and Urban Luzon Beltway tours, President Arroyo is set to visit Mindanao next week to promote it as an agri-business super region, Malacañang said Saturday.

Deputy Presidential Spokesman Ricardo Saludo bared Mrs. Arroyo’s visit to Mindanao, also known as "Agribusiness Mindanao" Super Region that covers Zamboanga Peninsula (Region 9), Northern Mindanao (Region 10), except Camiguin; Davao Region (Region 11), Region 12, Caraga (Region 13), except Island of Siargao; and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

Saludo said it is part of the President’s nationwide legacy campaign to personally show to the people the fruits of her nine-year-old administration.

Last week, the President toured in different areas of the ULB Super Region, which include Clark, Bulacan, and Batangas.

Since the establishment of the ULB in 2006, the Arroyo government and the private sector have poured in at least P40 billion on major road projects in Metro Manila, Central Luzon and Southern Luzon.

The ULB Super Region is composed of the southern part of Central Luzon, the entire Metro Manila, Calabarzon, and half of Mimaropa region, including Mindoro and Marinduque provinces.

Two weeks ago, she had cyber-corridor visits to Bacolod, Iloilo, Davao and Cebu to attract more investments in information and communications technology (ICT) sectors.

Meanwhile, Saludo said the Palace applauded the business groups’ hosting of forums for presidential candidates.

“Instead of baseless mudslinging, candidates should tell our people how they would continue the Arroyo administration's unprecedented nine years of economic expansion, with the highest annual average growth, most jobs created, and lowest average inflation and self-rated poverty in a generation,” he said.
