Yahoooo for the new route! Air Philippines now known as Airphil Express is opening another destination! This time the Lucio Tan group low cost carrier is opening the Cebu-Surigao daily flight service this coming November. Surfing aficionados would definitely love this news as it will be easier for them to travel to the island of Siargao, known as the Surfing Capital of the Philippines.
Reports revealed that Airphil Express will begin flying from Cebu to Surigao daily starting November 1, 2010 utilizing its 76-seater (DH4) Bombardier Q400. The flight leaves Cebu at 09:20am (2P 087), and arrives in Surigao at 10:20am. The return flight departs Surigao at 10:40am (2P 088) and arrives in Cebu at 11:40am.
Also, with the growing tourist arrivals in the province, Airphil Express announced that they will add another flight from Manila - Surigao route starting November 1. The second flight leaves Manila at 1:30pm (2P 063), and arrives in Surigao at 3:10pm. The return flight departs Surigao at 3:30pm (2P 064) and arrives in Manila at 5:10pm.
Surigao, one of the gateways to premiere surfing destination Siargao, is also home to the Bonok Bonok Maradjao Karadjao Festival, which is celebrated every September 9.
Today, the route network of Airphil Express continues to expand as it adds to its existing flights to the following domestic destinations: Tuguegarao, Naga, San Jose (Mindoro), Busuanga, Boracay (Caticlan), Catarman, Calbayog, Tacloban, Ormoc, Iloilo, Bacolod, Cebu, Dipolog, Cagayan de Oro, Ozamiz, Zamboanga, Davao, Masbate and Surigao.
