THE International Pharmaceuticals Inc. Foundation has given away a total of 150 non-collapsible wheelchairs to physically challenged individuals in the Visayas and Mindanao.
Some of the wheelchairs were shipped from Cebu City to Siargao through the assistance and support of Cebu Taxi Fleet Operator Richard Mancao, Surigao Businessman Evat Tiu and municipal councilor Kenneth Tiu of Dapa town, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte.
Joan Castillo, executive director of IPI Foundation, turned over at least eight brand new wheelchairs to Celia Tiu-Comahig and son, Melvin representing Dapa Mayor Pete Ruaya, with the presence of IPI Foundation secretary/finance officer Juvy Jane Conol and IPI Foundation social worker Mae Anne Nama.
The donation was made possible through the efforts of One World Institute, a charity organization founded by Dr. Thomas Stern and wife, Yolanda-Ortega-Stern of northern California, USA with the aim to provide health and educational needs of destitute people in the Philippines and Cambodia.
One World, in partnership with IPI Foundation, is active in humanitarian services and has always been in the forefront of supporting outreach activities like food distribution, medical mission and feeding programs, among others. (Cebu Daily News)
