Two moderate tremors rocked some parts of Mindanao on Saturday and Sunday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported Monday.
There was no report of any damage or casualty during the series of earthquakes, according to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in Mindanao. There was also no tsunami alert.
Phivolcs said a 3.1-magnitude earthquake, which was classified as tectonic, struck about 65 kilometers northeast and 45 degrees east of Surigao City around 5:57 a.m. on Sunday.
On the same day, a 4.9-magnitude quake occurred around 3:18 p.m. with a depth of 611.1 km, and its epicenter was located 105 kilometers southwest of southern city of Cotabato.
The tremor was also felt in the cities of Pagadian and Zamboanga.
Also on Saturday, at 5:20 p.m., a 3.7-magnitude quake was felt in Davao Oriental and its epicenter was located at 19 kilometers southwest of Mati town with a depth of 73 kilomoters. Intensity 5 was felt in Barangay Masara, Maco and Intensity 2 in Nabunturan, both Compostela Valley.
