A total of 18,520 beneficiary patients from 19 municipalities of Surigao del Norte get medical treatment since the start of medical and dental outreach program locally known as “Panambay Sa Barangay Program”, one of the flagship project of Surigao del Norte Governor Sol Folcadilla Matugas.
According to the press statement released by the Provincial Governor’s office through the Media Bureau Office of the Provincial Capitol here claimed that since July 8 this year which is the start of program up to July 13, some 18,520 patients mostly coming from rural areas in the province benefited from the Panambay Sa Barangay Program.
Broadcaster Jun Parada now working at the Surigao del Norte Media Bureau Office said that the 18,520 patients mark were achieved in the first 100 days of the lady governor who is wife of former Surigao del Norte Governor now First District Congressman Francisco Matugas of Liberal Party Surigao del Norte.
Under the Panambay Sa Barangay Program of Governor Matugas, patient beneficiaries are given free medical consultations, free medical and dental treatment and will received free medicines from the Provincial Government of Surigao del Norte.
Governor Matugas herself if given free time and is available will personally lead medical team of the Panambay Sa Barangay together with Second District Congressman Guillermo Romarate, Jr. of Liberal Party who will do personal barangay and town visitations to conduct the medical outreach program in a year round basis.
Congressman Romarate himself has allotted funds to the noble project “Panambay Sa Barangay”.
Romarate and Matugas themselves during conduct of Panambay Sa Barangay personally held consultations with their barangay officials and constituents during round ups.
Among municipalities in Surigao del Norte already benefited from the Panambay Sa Barangay Program were towns of Bacuag, Taganaan, General Luna, San Benito, Burgos,Dapa, San Isidro, Del Carmen, Sta Monica, Pilar, Socorro, San Francisco, Sison, ,Placer, Gigaquit, Tubod, Mainit, Claver and Alegria.
The next stop of the program is the coastal town of Malimono .
Panambay Sa Barangay Program is one of the flagship projects under Governor Matugas’ priority development agenda called H.E.A.L.S acronym for Health, Environment, Education, and Employment, Agriculture, Livelihood and Good Service and Sanitation. (PNA/Ben Serrano)
