City Mayor Ernesto Matugas and DOH Undersecretary Dr. David Lozada, Jr. led last October 15 the unveiling of marker and blessing ceremonies of the P35-million Drug Rehabilitation and Treatment Center at Barangay Anomar this city.
Mayor Matugas in his message of support said that it’s a huge honor for the city to be chosen as the site for this very important project, “an indication that government is doing its mandate for the well-being of its people through the Department of Health.”
Matugas bared that he will put up a special project - sort of spiritual guidance counseling inside the rehabilitation center through his personal funds, “the project will be headed by Dr. Manuel Tan, a former city councilor.”
Meanwhile, DOH Undersecretary Dr. David J. Lozada, Jr, revealed that on 2011 budget the Drug Rehabilitation Center will get 20 million for the implementation and operating budget to assure its accessibility and sustainability.
He also congratulated the Center for Health and Development – Caraga and other partner agencies for developing this new facility and for allowing more access to drug abuse patient.
The Treatment and Rehabilitation Center was created as part of the department of health’s implementation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Drug Act of 2002 and due to the high incidence of drug abuse problem in the Caraga Region. (PIA)
