A photo and art exhibit dubbed as'Hulagway' of Taganito Mining Corporation (TMC) drew praises and accolades from the guests and officials of the Mines and GeoSciences Bureau (MGB-13) during its launching held at the TMC mine site, Claver town on Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010.
The exhibit showcases responsible mining through photos, paintings, murals on concrete garden benches and a flower garden. It will be open to all for the next three months before it is going to be redesigned and updated with more recent photos.
MGB-13 OIC-Chief Administrative Officer Atty. Rise Faith Recabo said that it's the first time in the region that a mining company is implementing a project that took IEC into a higher level. "I say this is a landmark event since this is the first time that a mining company in Caraga has implemented a project that will bring the concept of information, education and communication into a higher level. And, I praise TMC so much for giving importance to IEC and community development."
"'Hulagway' is indeed a very fitting name because this will give us the portrait of the community's image as it maximizes the benefits of mining in Taganito and Hayanggabon," Recabo added.
TMC Resident Manager Jose Anievas was also surprised with the mine-site's transformation. "We are really surprised that this is how it wonderfully looks like."
Nickel Asia Corporation (NAC-TMC) Community Relations Manager, Jane Urbanek narrated that it took them quite some time to put all these things together, "it took us a long time to gather every bit and piece of what goes into these photo and arts exhibit."
"And we are really very happy because these information about who we are, who TMC is, what we are doing for the community, what we are contributing to Caraga Region in terms of taxes, in terms of employment, in terms of business opportunities are all there exhibited for everybody to see," Urbanek said.
