At least two quakes were recorded in the Siargao and Surigao areas in Mindanao Sunday night and before dawn Monday, but there was no initial report of damage or casualty.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the first quake measuring magnitude 3.5 was recorded at 7:02 p.m. Sunday, and was tectonic in origin.
It said the quake epicenter was traced to 66 km northeast of General Luna in Siargao.
Meanwhile, Phivolcs said a magnitude-3.1 quake was recorded at 3:45 a.m. Monday in the Surigao del Sur area, and was tectonic in origin.
It said the epicenter was 17 km northwest of Carrascal, Surigao del Sur.
However, Phivolcs did not immediately specify the areas where the quakes were felt.
No aftershock was expected from both quakes, it added. — RSJ, GMANews.TV
