Ferol is optimistic that with the action from the Aquino administration the rampant illegal logging activities in the region will stop.
“This is the time for all of us to take actions and protect the environment,” said Ferol who is currently the Program Director of RMN-Surigao.
She is hopeful that not only the government officials will make stand for it, but the ordinary citizens as well.
“A lot has been said about this Executive Order No. 23 but the most important thing is the results,” Ferol concluded. (Susil Ragas, PIA-Surigao del Norte)

It would be nice if the media asociation you headed will go to the DENR regional office and get an official copy of who were issued TLA (Timber-Licenses) sawmills, owners, royalty Operators, etc. in the province of Surigao del norte and their specific locations then publish it in this blog and compel the BFD to show the latest inventory of logs cut, either on-site, on log-decks or log-ponds, in transit to sawmills...that way those that were cut prior to the implementation of the EO will not become another issue of finger-pointing and confusion....secondly, any NEW log cut in or near the vicinity of the logging concessions is for the respective TLA holders to answer and show the burden of proof and not the other way around( them policing themselves) and can only continue upon satisfactory evidence that it is not them who violated the EO, in other words outright suspension of operations, no if and buts, that way they will act on the discrepancy soonest or lose the permits and presumed the violator...
