The province of Surigao del Norte has allotted P11 million proposed budget for the Provincial Local School Board during the Local School Board meeting held recently at the Governor’s Conference Room, Capitol Compound, Surigao City.
The proposed budget is intended for the personnel services such as honoraria and chalk allowance of school board teachers, maintenance and other operating expenses, teacher development and leadership capability program, and the flagship programs of the local school board namely the K+12, Project BEST and Fit for School Program.
Governor Sol Matugas is contemplating to issue an executive order to put Kindergarten classes in all barangays. Matugas said this is the first step in the K+12 program in which an standardized kindergarten curriculum is a felt need to enrich basic education.
“Let’s make education our weapon to alleviate hunger and poverty to our school children. Education is the best solution,” Matugas said.
As suggested during the meeting, to let the stakeholders be well informed about this advocacy, there should be a radio program and fliers about K+12, Project BEST, Fit for School programs, among others.
Also present during the meeting were Board Member Mamerto Galanida, Schools Division Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, PTA President, Provincial Treasurer, Provincial Budget Officer, and the members of the local school board. (Surigao Norte Prov’l Information Center)
