The officials in this group of islands in Northeastern Mindanao are hoping that the recent decision of the highest court of the land will "put an end" to the problem so that the province "can already move on."
The officials led by Dinagat Vice Gov. Jade Ecleo were very much happy and welcomed what they describes as an "enlightened" ruling coming from the SC.
"The SC decision was really a vindication," said Ecleo. She said the SC decision was a "people’s victory" as she expressed hopes that this will fast-track the economic development of the island-province.
"The decision, which finally settles the province status, augurs well for the development and welfare of Dinagatnons," she told newsmen.
In its 9-6 voting during its session in Baguio City on Tuesday, the SC ruled that Republic Act 9355 is constitutional as it set aside its decision in February last year that nullified the law for violating the minimum requirements for population and land areas under the Local Government Code.
