Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Corazon “Dinky” Juliano Soliman is set to visit Surigao del Norte on Apr. 7-8, 2011 to grace the Daycare Workers Convention and sign several social services projects currently implemented by the local government units (LGUs) here.
Upon her arrival on Thursday, Sec. Soliman will proceed immediately to the provincial convention center to grace the Daycare Workers Convention. She will then lead the MOA signing on “Convergence of Social Protection Services” and “Social Pension Program,” the poverty alleviation programs of President Benigno S. Aquino III for the underprivileged community, with the LGU officials led by Gov. Sol Matugas.
Sec. Soliman, along with the provincial officials, will also lead the groundbreaking of a Daycare Center in Brgy. Tapian, Mainit, Surigao del Norte.
She will also sign another MOA still in Mainit on Core Shelter Assistance Project (CSAP), a program of the agency which provides for a typhoon resistant low cost housing/shelter units for disaster-affected families. The said families, who would organize themselves into neighborhood associations, will build their shelter units themselves using low cost materials.
On Apr. 8, Sec. Soliman is set to meet with the Conditional Cash Transfer and SEA-K beneficiaries at the City Cultural Center. She will also release the Social Pension Grant to about 200 senior citizens of the province. (PIA-Surigao del Norte)
