The launching was highlighted with the presentation of vermiculture and vermin tea by City Agriculturist Isaias Elumba and the distribution of vegetable seedlings, vermin cast and vermin tea to the selected farmer beneficiaries of Brgy. Canlanipa.
The said distribution was done by City Mayor Ernesto Matugas together with his wife Filomena Matugas, DA Regional Coordinator Marcelo Daya, Asst. City Agriculturist Hyde Villalba, OIC- City ENRO Engr. Elmer C. Tecson, Soil, Water Management Consultant Gunmar Kassberg and Canlanipa Brgy. Captain Jaime Fetalvero.
The farmers then extended their heartfelt gratitude to the proponents of the said project and to the city mayor for their support.
German Consultant Gunmar Kassberg also vowed to continue in extending assistance to the city agriculture for the said project.
Vermiculture is the culturing of earthworms to produce vermi compost that can be used as fertilizers to bring the soil back to life. Prolonged used of the vermicompost increases soil life and fertility and is often regarded as "nature's perfect organic fertilizer" which is very appropriate for use by the organic farmers.
