As part of the ongoing reforms in the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in support to President Aquino's battle cry for a “daang matuwid” (straight path), DPWH 2nd Surigao del Norte Engineering District Office (DPWH 2nd SDN-EDO) employees have recently started using biometric machine for logging in daily time records.
Administrative Officer III Juana Betty P. Porpayas said that “the method will help a lot in monitoring the absences and tardiness of the employees.”
“For those DPWH personnel who will be on travel/field must ask first for a travel order/gatepass approved by the district head before travelling to avoid absences,” Porpayas added.
Security guards were directed to oversee the proper time implementation of queuing at biometric machine to avoid waste of government time.
For the past years since the establishment of the district office, log books were used to record the daily time records of the employees.
With the implementation of the biometric machine, District Engineer Salvador E. Montil, Jr. expects the improvement of the performance of the district office.(Michael Conte, DPWH-2nd Engineering District/PIA-Surigao del Norte)
