Nineteen of 20 local government units (LGUs) in the entire province were conferred recently with the ‘Seal of Good Housekeeping’ by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in recognition of their excellent performance in local governance in their respective municipalities.
According to DILG Provincial Director Domingo Bulabog these municipalities have satisfactorily complied with the full disclosure policy of budget, bids and offerings with no adverse opinions from Commission on Audit (COA).
The 19 LGU awardees include Alegria, Bacuag, Burgos, Dapa, Del Carmen, General Luna, Gigaquit, Mainit, Malimono, Pilar, Placer, San Benito, San Francisco (Anao-Aon), San Isidro, Santa Monica (Sapao), Sison, Socorro, Tagana-an, and Tubod.
“Except for Claver, which is the only 3rd class municipality of the province, the recipients belonged to the 4th to 6th class,” he said.
Bulabog said the recipients will be given a Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) of P1 Million, which should be used for the implementation of projects aligned with the national government's goal to achieve the Millennium Development Goals. (PIA-Surigao del Norte)
