A magnitude-5.0 quake jolted the Surigao Norte Friday afternoon, but there was no initial report of damage or casualty.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake was tectonic in origin and was recorded at 1:42 p.m.
It said the epicenter was traced to 11 km southeast of San Isidro in Surigao del Norte.
Phivolcs said the quake was felt at Intensity IV in Dapa and Gen. Luna Surigao Del Norte, Siargao Island; Intensity III in Surigao City, Cabadbaran, and Intensity II in Carrascal, Surigao del Sur and Butuan City.
No damage or aftershock was expected from the quake, Phivolcs said.
