Spot promotion for ‘hero’ cops in Gov. Matugas slay attempt

SURIGAO CITY– Two Surigao del Norte policemen who saved the life of Gov. Sol Forcadilla Matugas during a slay attempt are expected to get spot promotions aside from medals for their display of heroism in the line of duty.

Police Provincial Director Senior Supt. Ruel Obusan said the two cops detailed as security escorts of Governor Matugas, PO2 Jerson Camingue Guindulman, and PO2 Ronie Febra Goles, could be promoted on the spot for a job a well done.

Obusan said the suspect, retired Dep Ed school principal and Barangay Chairman Samuel Galagala Lapac, Sr., 69, of Bernadette Village, Barangay Luna, Surigao City is now detained at the Surigao City Police after being treated in a hospital for slight gunshot wound in the stomach.
 
Goles, represented by his wife,  received medals for bravery and policeman wounded in duty, from newly installed Caraga Police Regional Director Chief Supt. Carmelo Valmoria.

Guindulman who was wounded in his left lower leg also received medal of cop wounded while in service and duty. #
