SURIGAO CITY - Some 56 student and alumni leaders from various fraternities
and sororities and non-fraternity and sorority organizations in the city have
joined the 6th Organizing Anniversary of the Marajaw
Inter-Fraternity and Sorority Association (MIFSA) last December 20, 2012.
The event was held at the Academic Center of the Surigao
State College of Technology (SSCT) attended by the fraternity and sorority
organizations such as Upsilon Phi Sigma, Alpha Phi Omega, Alpha Kappa Rho,
Alpha Theta Omega, Tau Gamma Phi, Gamma Kappa Phi, Sigma Xi, Sigma Lambda Phi,
Beta Gamma Rho, Monalisa, SSCT SSG and SSCT Chorale Group.
The event was highlighted with a seminar on Anti-Hazing
Law by Atty. Jeffrey P. Galido, Hazing Related Injuries by Doc. Jaimenito C.
Go, and Alliance Leadership by Mr. Jonas Robert L. Miranda.
Right after the seminar,
a unification torch lighting was conducted to solidify the MIFSA’s union.
The activity was then concluded with a pledge to advocate the Anti-Hazing
Law, Unity, Peace and “Tutti Frati or Brothers for All” among Fraternities and
Sororities in the city.
The event was made possible with the support of City
Mayor Ernesto “Nitoy” T. Matugas, Board Member Atty. Fernando T. Larong, SSCT
President Dr. Gloria C. Gempar, Mr. Balgamelo C. Ma, ABC President Hon. Pablo
Bonono, Mr. Salvador Almedilla, and SSCT’s Supreme Student Government.
Meanwhile, MIFSA will be joining the SSCT’s Bundle of Joy
Program for the Mamanwa Tribe on Dec. 23 at Brgy. Jubgan, San Francisco,
Surigao del Norte.
