Surigao
City—Surigaonons run enthusiastically during the Red Tie Run 2012 held December
1, this city.
Runners
were happy to participate actively in the Surigao Runner’s Club (SRC) awareness
run for HIV/AIDS to prudently respond on the said international concern. It was
a rainy day but they stood still to accomplish the rational run.
“I’m
happy, this is my first time to participate a run for a cause, I was once a
runner back then but it was more on sports contest, and now I will run for purpose,”
said Sheila V. Paredes, a 5k run participant.
Archie
Ballado of NEMCO, also a 5k run participant, while running said, “I like this
activity, it made me feel complete from a cause for a social concern to a
personal satisfaction. I’m running therefore I’m applying the purpose of my
lower extremities.”
“With
my beautiful wife in this run for a cause, I super love,” Kaelf Dave P.
Noguerra said in a hyperbaton speech. The couple participated the 5k run.
Teresa
T. Septimo wasn’t able to join the activity but she said in Facebook, “I know
that it was for the HIV-AIDS campaign. I think there should be more worthwhile
activities such as that to further educate the people, especially Suriganons,
about this silent killer thing. It’s no longer a taboo because there are
reported confirmed cases in Surigao. We don’t want to be a small town and yet
known and involved with big not so good issues such as this.”
“How
I wish I have more time to be more involved with worthwhile activities and time
related issues in Surigao,” she added.
SRC
President Atty. Ingemar P. Macarine said, “I’m very happy that we have started
and finished the Red Tie Run 2012, awareness for HIV/AIDS, successfully.”
“I
hope that the next time we run for a cause those Suriganons who have joined now
will still be joining, and for those who have not yet participated will be actively
participating,” he added.
Pres.
Macarine expressed thanks to all who have helped them -- the Surigao Runner’s
Club, in realizing the run for a cause. “I hope you will continue in supporting
us for the next rational runs. Congratulations to all the winners and I hope
that you will still win our next runs for a cause.”
