City Mayor Ernesto “Nitoy” Matugas anti-illegal drugs campaign recently
received a major boost after Chief Supt Getulio Napeñas, police regional
director for Caraga, made public his admiration of the former’s initiative to
cleanse the city of banned substances particularly ‘shabu’ and ‘marijuana’.
Speaking
before an estimated crowd of more than 3,000 during the city’s Charter Day
celebration on August 31, 2013, Napeñas praised Matugas as the most active
local government chief executive in Caraga Region in the area of anti-illegal
drugs campaign.
“In
just 3 years in office, Mayor Matugas, through the city police, has made 38
apprehensions involving high-profile and notorious drug lords and drug pushers
making him the most active in Caraga Region,” Napeñas said.
During
his speech, the Caraga region’s top cop had assured Matugas of PNP Caraga’s full
support of mayor’s campaign against all forms of criminalities.
Matugas
thanked Napeñas for his support and confidence saying the same has served as a
great moral booster to his administration.
